While there are many languages in Polistet, the most common of them all is Creila, the native language of Creilin. It has been adopted throughout the continent because of Creilin's status as a central trade and travel location. Many other places still hold onto their native languages, especially in more rural/traditional settings, or used for reinforcing cultural aesthetics even when people are more functionally fluent with Creila.
Here's a list of them all:
- Carva, the native language of the Carveila region of Creilin, rarely used outside of the city and its neighboring towns. Moreso a Creila dialect. Used with pride by Carveilans, though anything written in Carvish will have a Creila translation nearby.
- Creila, the native language of the Kingdom of Creilin and adopted common language throughout most of Polistet. The only places this language will not help you are most likely places you are not wanted.
- Gausish, a language originating in rural Gausland, and mostly only used in rural Gausland. Common from more traditional groups, but is rarely found in more urban areas like Whithe unless for aesthetics.
- Kelic, the native language of the Kingdom of Kel. The people of Kel have the most diversity with their language-learning, between Creila, Gausish, Kelic, and Quasola being spoken in different regions by different people. Kelic and Quasola are common on the coast and with Quast nomads, and Creila is common in South Kel's valleys, while Gausish may be found in the outskirts towns of Noscom.
- Nebezi, the native language of the Tribes of Old Nebez and Yuci. Has changed much since Nebez split from Frouland as a movement to establish a unique culture, including a change in script, so it is the least similar to Froulish languages. Yuci is slowly phasing this language out in favor of Creila's universality, but there are still cultures in Yuci who cling to Nebezi as a symbol of their independence.
- Quasola, a language used by some nomadic Quast groups. Has a relatively recent shared parent language with Kelic, so if you are able to speak one, you are likely able to make simple conversation with someone who only speaks the other. Especially popular with Elder Quasts.
- Wrecia, a language originating in Wrece. Incredibly rare to find someone who speaks it, mostly just scholars of Wrece's history. It is often found in the well-preserved Proman-Era ruins in Wrece's central region.
